The new Hyundai Santa Fe is an outstanding midsize SUV that does everything well and has an appealing list of features. It makes a great family vehicle for the Ponte Vedra Beach area. It gets quite good gas mileage and its performance feels excellent with the upgraded engine. There's a nice mix of trims and packages to let you customize the Santa Fe to align with what you need. It is a jack of all trades SUV because while some other models might have a sportier feel or more space, nothing succeeds in as many different categories as the Santa Fe. Performance
There are two engines available for the new Hyundai Santa Fe. The base engine is rated for 185 horsepower, and the upgrade is a turbocharger with 235 horsepower. The upgrade is a really good investment, as it provides excellent power and acceleration. It's available in the second trim and comes with two packages as explained in Features below. The Santa Fe does very well on gas for its class. It is rated for 29 MPG on highways and 22 on city roads in the base engine, and that drops by two for the upgraded engine. Even with the more powerful engine, the design means it won't sound loud or intrusive, even on highways.
Interior
The interior of the Santa Fe is nice and quiet, no matter how fast you are going. It's quite comfortable and made with good-quality materials. The cargo space capacity is 35.9 cubic feet with the second row up and 71.3 if you fold that row down. The interior starts off strong and really improves with higher trims because those add more comfort features to the seat and more tech to enjoy. It's a vehicle where Jacksonville Beach drivers won't mind spending hours at a time in it for road trips because it's comfortable in any weather and speed. It also has enough space that you can pack along what you need along with your passengers. If you plan to listen to music or the radio, then keep an eye on the upgrades for the sound system and the satellite radio option.
Features
The features for the Santa Fe are arranged among three trims. The base trim is the SE. It has smartphone connectivity with a range of active safety tech and a 7-inch touchscreen. The included active safety tech is especially good value-- some of it, like adaptive cruise control, is usually a top-trim feature on other vehicles. The only option is an all-wheel drive. The second trim, the SEL, opens things up. It gets more tech and comfort features like heated front seats and two packages. Premium includes a sunroof, leather, and power passenger seat. Convenience has a sound system upgrade, more climate control, and other nice elements. Get both and St. Augustine drivers can add the upgraded engine as well, which is recommended. The top trim, the Limited, includes just about everything from below trims plus unique features like seat ventilation and a surround camera system. As with the SEL, the upgraded engine and the all-wheel-drive feature are options, but the rest is all standard.
